Why we love Roman shades

At Nami LaLa, we believe that simplicity and intention make all the difference in a nursery, our roman shades are no exception. Designed with incredible 100% cotton canvas and meticulous craftsmanship, our shades create a nurturing space for your baby, using nothing but high-quality, natural materials and a classic pull-cord design. We believe roman shades are the ideal choice for creating a light sensitive environment:

Babies thrive on restful, predictable sleep, and our Roman shades with room-darkening lining help create the perfect environment. By softly darkening the nursery, they support deeper naps and a healthy circadian rhythm, both essential for cognitive growth and emotional well-being.

These shades help minimize outside distractions during quiet moments, creating a cozy retreat where your little one feels safe and supported. By gently filtering or blocking light, they transform the nursery into a calming space that fosters security and shields from overstimulation.

Our Roman shades let you fine-tune the light in your baby’s space, whether you’re sharing stories or encouraging independent play. With a simple pull, you can create soft, filtered light or a serene darkness, encouraging sensory engagement in a way that’s gentle and nurturing.

Roman shades bring clean lines and order, subtly instilling a sense of structure and comfort. This uncluttered aesthetic is visually engaging for babies as they begin to recognize patterns and find calm in organized surroundings, laying the groundwork for early cognitive development.

From the first days, babies pick up on the rhythms around them. By creating a consistent light-dark schedule with shades, you help them associate specific times with rest and others with play, building early trust and familiarity with their world.

Craftsmanship and purpose

At Nami LaLa, Roman shades are more than functional; they’re a conscious design choice that brings an “unplugged” feel to the nursery, offering gentle, manual light control to create the ideal atmosphere. We embrace a classic pull-cord mechanism, prioritizing durability and simplicity over motorized or chain-driven options that rely on bulky fastenings like Velcro. Mounted on sturdy wood for a secure fit, our shades keep their shape beautifully over time.

Each shade becomes a small act of love, creating a cozy and enriching nursery that opens the world and lets the light in!

Roman shade measurement guide

Inside mount

Inside mount shades fit inside the window frame and give a clean, simple look. They do not block as much light as outside mount shades, as a little bit of light will show along the edges of the shade.

  • For width, measure from the inside of one side of the frame to the inside of the other side to the nearest 1/8". Take multiple measurements and use the smallest to ensure that your shade fits properly within the frame.
  • For height, measure from the bottom edge of the top of the frame to the top edge of the window sill to the nearest 1/8". Take multiple measurements and use the largest to ensure that your shade covers the entire height of the window.
  • A minimum of 1.5" in window frame depth is needed for mounting the shade.

Outside mount

Outside mount shades are mounted outside the window frame and cover the entire window. They can make the window appear larger and more elegant, and do not block any of the view when fully raised.

  • For width, measure between where you would like each side of the shade to end to the nearest 1/8". Typically, 1.5" to 3" of width are added on each side of the window frame.
  • For height, measure from where you would like to mount the shade down to your desired length to the nearest 1/8".
  • A minimum of 2" above the window frame is needed for mounting the shade.
